One year after the project began, we have reached an important milestone: the first two construction phases of the new school in the Afghan mountain village of Siaqol are complete. The school building is standing.
The third construction phase has begun
The facade has been fully plastered and is now being painted blue. The window frames were made directly on site. The photovoltaic system has also been installed, and a small building for the sanitary facilities has been built near the school building. Work on the schoolyard is under way, too.
Next come further interior work and the installation of windows, doors and the kitchen.
Why this school matters so much
The new school replaces the two previous school buildings, the older of which has largely fallen into disrepair. Until now, around 70 girls and boys from Siaqol and the surrounding area were taught there in two small rooms – with no heating, no toilets and, in the newer building, not even any tables or chairs. The new school building will have electricity, heating and separate toilets for boys and girls.

Looking back: construction progress in November 2025
By mid-November 2025, the basement and ground floor were already in place before the building site closed for the winter break. The video shows how far the work had come at that point.
Thank you!
All this is made possible by our many donors and by the tireless work of the engineer and the residents of Siaqol and the surrounding area on the building site. It is a great joy to see the school gradually taking shape. Even greater is our joy at the gratitude shown to us by the children, teenagers and adults of Siaqol and the neighbouring villages.
We are still raising funds for the remaining construction work. Support us and help provide the girls and boys in Siaqol with a better learning environment!
